I was driving, driving, driving down the 101 - (The Simpson family would like to acknowledge Guy Sebastian for his assistance with the naming of this entry)

Our hotel in Santa Barbara was the Ramada. We enjoyed it. Our room was a good size and save for the foldaway bed (which was dreadful) everything else was great.

We had a poke around Santa Barbara prior to hitting the "101." This included a walk out on the wharf and a cheeky fizzy drink at Moby Dick's cafe. It was a very warm day.

We then turned the mini-van in the direction of LA. I love the "101," it always seems to take us where we want to go.

We stopped for petrol in Ventura and then had lunch at Panda Express in LA somewhere. You may recall that our first trip to the Hollywood Hills was interrupted by the overwhelming need to find William a dunny.  Hannah was, therefore, very displeased with our last self guided tour. So this was "take two" and it was going to be different. We hit Mulholland Drive to check out a few sights.

Unfortunately, very early into this self guided tour, Charlie stated that he needed a dunny. I couldn't believe it. We abandoned this part of our tour and made our way to Beverly Hills proper. Things became more dire as we started looking for shops, cafes and restaurants that may have allowed a quick pit stop. The stakes were high as Charlie was threatening a Vesuvios style erruption. He acknowledged this would spoil everyone's fun and would not be good for the rental car.

We eventually found a cafe somewhere just off Rodeo Drive. I circled the block while Lara led the charge. Disaster averted. If we were ever to come back, I would pay for one of those dodgy guided tours. It was too hard aimlessly driving around in circles. Complicated by various toileting emergencies.

By the time we started moving in the direction of Disneyland, it was a driving nightmare. It took us nearly 2 hours from Beverly Hills to Anaheim. Upside is that our Hotel is ace. It's only a year old and it's got a waterpark as part of it.

We settled in and then decided to go for a walk to Disneyland to sort out our tickets. With tickets sorted, we decided to have a little look around the Happiest place on Earth. The feeling of entering was almost unbelievable. So surreal to finally get here. First thing we did was a round of outrageous ice creams. We then went on two rides. It's a small world & the Submarine. Such fun.

Home for a quick swim - The very second we arrived, they flicked the off switch on the waterslides and the water playground. Gracie & William still had a quick swim. Lara did some washing and then into bed. Too late as usual. About to set off for breaky now.

  1. DL - there are some terrific memories wrapped up there. Have a great time. You may have some challenges indeed in getting back to "normal" eating routines??
