Yogi Bear

We left Santa Clarita yesterday after some more frolicking at Magic Mountain. It was our day at Huricane Harbour water park. We arrived early and snuck in first for some rides at Six Flags. We got so few done on Saturday because of the crowds. Much fewer there on Sunday. We bolted for the Twisted Colossus. We got straight on. We had two rounds of that. Hands down the best ride I've ever been on. As very responsible parents, we then left the kids to keep riding and Lars & I rode "Goliath." It's got a 255 foot drop. Not bad - but didn't compare to the other one. At one point, however, Lara and I both temporarily lost vision. Something to do with G-forces.

Spent the rest of the day in Hurricane Harbour. Great weather. We got flash passes (nothing to do with nudity) which turned out to be a great move.

Left around 6.00 pm, got hopelessly lost and then started to drive to Sequoia NP. Love these freeways.

Everyone speeds and seemingly very few Police. Stopped for tea at Denny's. This was a major trip down memory lane. Most memorable part was when William decided to leave via the emergency exit. Alarm blared at incredible volume until disarmed by the gracious host.

Arrived here at Kings Canyon NP at around 11.30 pm. We are staying at Grant Grove cabins. Kings Canyon NP is next to Sequoia NP. Our trip here was like  driving from Melbourne to Falls Creek. Our cabin is incredible. So simple and yet so cosy. We are all in together. It so very Yogi Bear.

We had breakfast this morning at the lodge (which is like a classic hunting lodge from the movies) before setting out on an excursion to see the worlds biggest tree. The Sherman tree is quite large and over 2000 years old.  Highlight of the day was having to stop for a family of bears to cross the road. So good to see.

We had an early tea at the local village. We have extended our visit for an extra night.

Weather is awesome with a bit of chill at night. It's just what I imagined an American NP to be. So good. Off to Yosemite tomorrow.
