Santa Monica to Santa Clarita

It was a busy day today. Checked out of our Hotel and headed for tinsel town. Demonstrated pretty decisively that we were not from round these parts by attempting to drive in the wrong side of the ticket booth at the carpark. Attendant quickly advised us of our error.

Mucked around the Chinese Theatre and looked at some stuff. Watched a drongo doing his best to pick a fight with anyone he could. Was ultimately broken up by a guy holding a placard advertising $5.00 hoodies. Ironic since Spider-Man & Cat woman were standing right there. Very disappointed in Spidey's performance.

In & Out Burger for lunch, before driving around LA in massive circles. Much of our Mulholland sightseeing revolved around finding William a dunny. Things we're getting bleak by the time we pulled into some tree hugging tourist attraction.

Eventually found our way to the Griffith Observatory. Managed to squeeze the massive Chevy Yukon into a "compact" park. I felt like Homer Simpson.

The entire family (except me) instantly got a massive case of excursion tiredness. What's wrong with an observatory on a holiday I hear you ask? Apparently EVERYTHING. It was an ace view.

We set out for Santa Clarita via a couple of monumental and highly educational tourist destinations. The first was a Burger King in Burbank. It's the site of Doc Brown's house/garage from Back to the future. Had a fizzy there. Incidentally, I almost made a citizens arrest when two 30-40 year old women made a dash from Toys R Us. They were running with far more purpose than most towards the Burger King carpark. I considered a tackle of the first one but figured that "running with purpose" wasn't a crime. Spoke to the LPO. They'd already dropped their spoils by the time I saw them.

Then headed to Marty McFly's 1985 home. There were kids riding skateboards in the street! I was so overwhelmed that I momentarily lost my sense of spacial awareness. Not clever when driving a massive SUV.

Hard to explain how it felt to see the house. The sun was in the wrong spot so the photo is rubbish. But it's there and pretty much unchanged. It's at 9303 Roslyndale Ave, Arleta CA. Massive highlight. I cut a few laps and got a video clip of the street.

Then drove to Santa Clarita where we are doing air b n b (via Walmart and Dick's sporting goods). Breaky cereal for tea. Absolutely exhausted. Off to Wally World tomorrow.
